Military bicycle

Post by Pitchy »

Started a new thread for this one as it`s kinda unique.
Made it from the green bike, added some rifle clips.

Need a Browning 1919 strapped to it- side car for the ammo!
Anywhere 'civilized ' they might frown upon that in the bike lanes but you wouldn't have to worry about traffic!

Please post pictures of your original or replica military bicycles i`d love to see them.
The idea here was to make a replica of what they used in the world wars.

Years ago in old England the bicycle was the main transport of the Poacher who helped himself to the Lord of the Manor's Pheasants.. Don't ask how I know.

As kids none of my group were that smart. We just carried our .22's across the handle bars. I wonder what would happen today if eight or ten boys from 10 to 16 were seen riding down the street with rifles across their handle bars.

I thought bicyclists carried guns chambered in the 22 Velo Dog cartridge...

This one looks a bit bigger than the Velo Dog.

Made a fake Garand for it this morning, so i can leave it on all the time for display.
Still wouldn`t want to ride it off the property as some fool would call the law.

Pitchy, those were a great idea. The modern mountain bikes could be adapted for our modern times. Too bad that we have to be afraid of the braindead fool who would call the Law.

Lenn, that fake Garand reminded me of the wooden rifles the British Home Guard had in 1940.

I remember these being sold by a few internet vendors a little while ago. They were about half that price back then. Still expensive. And Heavy!

Leave it to you, Pitchy!
I've actually thought of this with those electric bicycles to get to my treestand. Well, at least to cut down the distance I have to walk. Quiet and no exhaust smell. My biggest hangup is sometimes we get large amounts of snow. Not always, but sometimes. I could stud it though. May still work.

You made me have to look that one up !

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forehand_%26_Wadsworth
Thanks for the link. I saw "Forehand" and automatically tacked on "Wadsworth" - but had no idea that the latter was the forerunner of the former. Hard to keep up with some of the littler manufacturers from that time frame. Now I'm trying to remember where I remember Forehand and Wadsworth from...

Pitchy, that's a far better solution than Pat McManus' from "The Deer On A Bicycle".
