F.E Myers and Bro. water pump

Post by Pitchy »

Norma picked this Myers water pump at a garage sale yesterday, the poor thing was in very bad shape but after cleaning, welding and making some piston seals she runs again. :)

Ok, i like it. How much water per stroke does it flow? What is the longest hose that would be practical?
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Thanks Todd, sorry i have no idea about the flow or how far they would draw water maybe a search on the net would answer those questions. :)

Cool stuff Lenn. Glad to see you're staying busy. Went to church this morning but after Ford and I took out a propane line from the old bath room in the shop. Now I just need to figure out which wires are hot and get them shut off. Got to be careful on these re-models. Really missing my son. We were together almost every day and I depended on him for so much. Still 2 boys at home but the young one, 12, is no help and 19 year old works 10 hours a day so he sleeps or eats most of the time he is home. So much they need to learn and the older one wants to but I don't feel like doing much most of the time. Blacked out 3 or 4 times today but managed to not fall as it came on kind of slow.

Thanks Ron you take it easy bro your no spring chicken ya know and be careful so ya don`t get hurt, guess we have to except the fact we can`t do as much as we used too.

Too add about the pump they wasn`t submerged in water as i did in the video, there`s a intake hole on the other side that a pipe or hose would attach too and go to a water supply.
The fitting for that is missing so next best thing for a test was to just submerge it in water.
They used these to fill water wagons a lot for steam engines but i also read they could be used on a well.

Thanks Bill, fun too get old iron working again though sometimes ya wonder why ya even started on it.
I have several other pump jacks that are pretty cool but i can`t get them out of the shed as there`s to much junk in the way.

Ron, you take it easy... 30 years ago, my son couldn't outwork me by a long shot... I kept having to remind him to slow down my pace... now I still have to remind him to slow down to my pace!
