As a Farrier....yes...yes they do hurt but I submit to that discomfort so that my children wont have too.

The poster and the photo of that hand remind me of a friend I just lost. Terry Holland was born and raised in Carlsbad, NM, but he ranched and worked all over Texas and New Mexico raising hay and cattle, doing heavy construction and other hard, painful work. He had more than his share of bunged up fingers and broken wrists, arms and shoulders. He was in remission with Stage IV melanoma (thank God for M.D. Anderson) and had just turned 70. Wednesday night he was driving east on 380 in Kent County Texas when a tire blew and his big beloved F350 diesel rolled. He died in the dark in a pasture, and took a lifetime's wonderful stories with him.
Terry's hands were huge. He could do things with a wrench that I would need a three-foot breaker bar to accomplish. His heart was even bigger.
