For you 10mm guys

Post by CowboyTutt »

These are a new (to me) bullet that I found for my 10mm Kimber 1911 that I think will be my camp gun or hunting load. They arrive next Tuesday and they have some in stock right now guys (a rarity)! -Tutt

"WARNING : DO NOT USE IN .40 S&W"
...do they say why not...?
Seems like it would still do what solids do...

They do say “it is too long for use in 40 S&W” so either it won’t fit in magazine, won’t feed reliably, or wont stabilize.

Maybe too long for stabilizing unless it is going faster than a safe 40 S&W load could push it...?

What about my 24” Thompson Center Encore or the Ruger No.1 I have chambered in 40 S&W...???
(...just kidding...) - but there are some folks with Kel-Tec Sub-2000’s or other guns that might be ok...if velocity/stabilization is the issue. Then of course those who have dual-cylinder revolvers that can shoot the rounds without the same ‘feeding’ issues.

Anyhow that biller seems like a good choice for those out where bears are.

Not having a 10 mm, I would have to rely on my Redhawk in 45 Colt or a 44 Magnum in bear country, but if given a choice of any stock ithandgun I’d pick a 10mm semiauto over a 454 Casull or 460 S&W or 500 S&W revolver, because I think I could control the semiauto better for faster second or third shots. Capacity probably would be moot but might come in handy as well.

Of course an AR pistol in 50 Beowulf might be even better, but odds of whipping that out for a fast emergency shot faster than a DA Semiauto traditional pistol are slim.

Octagon, I like it a lot actually. I had a trigger job put on it, new grips and a 22 lb recoil spring. Its been very reliable but I did have some stove pipes a couple of times. Apparently the factory mags are not that good so I think the Wilson ones will fix that. Its very accurate in the hands of a good handgun shooter (which I don't currently qualify as) but seen other people do some real good shooting with it even if I can't. At least according to you tube guys comparing 10mm guns, it has a very good reputation. The only complaint I really got is that it has a plastic main spring housing which I hadn't even noticed myself and that is easily replaced. -Tutt

Danke Andy for that info, my BIL has a number of Kimbers and loves em. I was shooting alot of 10mm for some years and have recently fell back in love w 45 ACP. I might like a new Colt Delta Elite however and am gonna be looking for one or a Model 92 at a gun show this weekend.
