Springfiedl 52-B 22 rifle

Post by AmBraCol »

I know it's not a lever action, but it was my grandpa's old rifle. Used for killing hogs, hunting rabbits, pllinking (and abusing) by all the grandkids, etc. A good old fashioned farm rifle if there ever was one. My aunt gave it to me after grandpa died and I gave it the attention it had been crying for for a long, long time. Got it up and functional again and was even able to take down the rams on the Hunter's Pistol Silhouette range with it, once I figured the Kentucky windage out.

The reason for this post is to ask if any of you are familiar with this model rifle. This one has a pair of vertical slots milled into the rear portion of the action with a threaded hole between them. There's a corresponding slot in the stock. It would appear that it was at one time fitted with some kind of aperture sight, but a quick scan of the web didn't return any results for the same. Do any of you have a clue as to what it might have been fitted with, and where one might procure such an item? I'm packing it along to try on the silhouettes again. I'm glad to have this tangible link to my grandpa.

Forgot to mention it was manufactured by J Stevens Arms Company. That didn't help my search any either though.

Can't say I'm familiar with it but pictures always help :D

Remember, a bolt action bolt IS a lever, a trigger IS a lever so any gun is a levergun IMO

The above is true, all of it. But am on the road and don't know when I might get a chance to take and post a pic or so. Perhaps this week when I dig it out I'll recall to take the pic. Then will need to size it down to post.
