Parker Grade 2 12 gauge 32 inch

Post by 6pt-sika »

Picked this up at Hausemann's Hidden Hollow Sporting Clays this past weekend from a dealer in Charlotte NC . Now my 10 hammerless , 10 hammer , 12 hammerless and 12 hammer are all 32" with very similar stock dimensions . My hammer and hammerless 16's as well as my 20 hammerless are all 30" with very similar dimensions . Now if I could just get a nice Parker VHE 28 gauge 30" I'll be satisfied , however 30" 28's are scarce to say the least.

This gun is choked 36 thousandths in the right and 31 in the left its a skoosh tight but I seem to be doing better with tighter choked guns these days .

The gun needs a new top lever stop and spring which should be on their way to me as we speak and a couple correct hammer screws .

The stock has finish on it but at first look it appears to not have a finish , I'll eventually I suppose have my stock maker buddy address this .

Otherwise the gun suits me and is quite functional for my needs/use . Ill admit the guns a bit tight for skeet but if I do my part I roll up targets same on the 5 stand . I'll shoot this gun at Rock Mountain the end of July at Rock Mountain in PA for the first time at sporting clays in the 12 hammer class .

That'll do fine! I'm curious as to the 'blemish' on the tock, little pin knots or ....?
Some finish to make the grain pop would be nice on the eyes.

Not sure which blemish you mean 8) Initially the dealer I bought this from had a really nice Grade 3 in pretty much the same configuration I asked him to bring for me to see , that gun was 2” at the comb and 3 1/4” at the heel . I took along a comb riser pad thong to see if I could get the feel and sight picture I was looking for , but it didn’t feel at all natural . So he offered me this gun at 1/4 of what he was asking for the Grade 3 and the guns fits feels correct so it wasn’t difficult to make the decision .

Thats understandable due to its age, doesn't detract from its desirability. You sure find some great guns!!

If I had deep pockets I could come up with some high end stuff . But I can’t play in that league so I make the best of what I can acquire/afford

I picked up a box of 8 gauge stuff Saturday when I was at Prospect Hall in WVA . Forty seven hulls and a bunch of card , filler and overshot wads for the 8 . Ten new REM hulls a WIN Hull and thirty six older ribbed REM hulls . Wanna load them and see how they fold crimp they don’t seem as thick as the new REM hulls .

Talk about a cavernous hull!

Not being a sporting shooter i don't know where all the ranges are, have to keep us (me) updated as the shoot gets closer.

If I can get away it will only be 1 day, too much driving to shoot multiple events, can't leave my hounds alone.
