.41 Colt SAA

Post by M. M. Wright »

Discovered this pic of and old,1900, SAA with a target I fired last summer using the hollow base Lyman bullet sized .388 and lubed with SPG over a case full of ffg Goex. (Hey, it's what was open.) Distance was sorta 15 yards and a 2 hand hold. Okay, Weaver stance. As you can see it's cylinder was gold washed at some point but the Nickel may be original but it's just a shooter anyway. There was some talk a while back about loading for the 41 so I wanted to give my pet load and say that I use Starline brass and Federal LP primers. No it won't cut cards edgeways but I could defend myself with it and not feel undergunned. There are 10 shots there, the bottom right one is 2. I promise.

For those who don't know, it takes knowledge to get a 41 or it's little brother, the 38 to shoot like that.........good shootin' M.M.

As you know, it would be nuttin' to drop in a 38-40 cylinder and shoot ...the easy way.....

I have a Bisley in 41 too and it has a 38-40 cylinder to go with it. If I can ever find it again. It's lost somewhere in all this junk I'm surrounded with. Besides, just look at all the fun I've had getting this thing to shoot just pretty good.

I saw a box of 41 Colt ammo at Dunhams yesterday, along with some othercalibers I don't need . Was intrigued to see it in a modern sporting goods store.
