I'm disappointed that Armed Forces Day didn't get any recognition...none of the news outlets had it either....

Yeah I get that.
the other thing that's getting covered up is the war of attrition against Israel

The military is currently in the beginning stages of vilification, again. While not as bad as 50 years ago you'll notice you aren't seeing any good stories about the military in the news these days. Sad thing is it will take another Pearl Harbor of World Trade Center to get the media to swing back the other way. I suspect it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
When the nation is threatened the civilians praise and laud the military. Once the danger is past they don't want to be reminded of what price the military has paid, and certainly doesn't want to spend any money on both active duty and especially veterans.
