The .50 Beowulf uppers have earned a reputation for putting animals down in a hurry. The .50 AE should do about the same. Sort of makes me think of what a .50-40 Sharps special target load would be if they had ever been made. Maybe it could be the Little Big 50.

A Savage bolt action converted to 450 Raptor would be nicer.....-Tutt

The 45 Raptor sounds good. From whaf I read, it is basically a rimless .460 S&W.

Bingo! Give the man a cigar! I almost had a Savage bolt done in 450 Raptor made through Aria Ballistic Engineering, but decided to have them finish my 416/284 McPherson build on a Model '88 Winchester. The Raptor probably has a ballistic advantage but this project started with McPherson with the blessing of Dick Casull years ago. McPherson fell on years of very, very hard times, and Casull passed away. I already had the limited run of Norma 284 brass cases and one modified magazine. It will be plenty powerful and more ambidextrous than a bolt gun. The only advantage to a bolt gun for me is shooting prone, which I really haven't done much. I really prefer a lever. If I were going to run a bolt gun conversion, then the 450 Raptor would be a better choice than the 50 AE or "lower pressure" 45-70. -Tutt
