Lee Classic Loaders @ Amazon

Post by Blaine »

They have a few different ones in stock...at least as of yesterday. 38/357, 45 colt, .223, 45-70, and a couple others...it seems to change every few days.
I decided to snag a 38/357.
I already have one in .45acp that will do my Auto Rims, too.
Those little buggers are expensive these days.

Yeah I’ve turned a few new gun owners to:

A 357 Mag 4” DA revolver
A 357 Mag levergun, and
A Lee Classic loader.

That gets them started.

A Glock or AR-15 is advised if they want, but they won’t be able to get ammo around here; best you can do is stores will sell you 100 rounds of 223 IF you are buying a rifle. Otherwise most stores are opening up a few 20-round boxes for sale when they have excess.

But in a pinch most any component can somehow get you functional in a straight-wall pistol cartridge, and the little Lee loaders will help put it together.

The other nice thing is that it is so easy to just set up and load even half a dozen rounds or so, plus for a new shooter they are not ‘intimidating’ the way having to set up a full press can be.

It could be what's going on in the industry -- and the world too...

My twin says he's selling "used sets" of reloading dies and he's getting $80 or $90 per set -- USED.

I probably should get dies for .45 Short Colt. https://images.app.goo.gl/6dFzvBQrmg5BeyFr7
That, and 9mm is all that I have the firearms, but no dies for. Until this CoVid Bill Gates funded junk, those 2 were cheap.

The Lee Loader only neck sizes...I wonder how the reloads will cycle in a semi-auto? I suspect keeping an eye on brass OAL is crucial, trimming when necessary.

Yepper.....I've been there many times.
Political disagreement is healthy and good, but, he was chased out of here by some real pernicious posters.

Ha! Small world we live in. I was just over there recently, cogitating on cast bullet loads for the 30-30.

Some years ago I dug out my ancient original 30-30 Lee loader and for the heck of it I loaded a box.
It didn't take me but about one round to remember why I quit using them. I decided that if I ever use them again I'd pick up an arbor press and use that instead of a hammer.

Here is an interesting example.....

Yes, indeed. I found that article intriguing.

I've been trying to find online (US sellers) Lee dies sets for the .38-40 and .45 Colt , there are out of stock everywhere.
In Argentina I can buy them... At 120 USD each... :x

Depending on caliber some are going for far more. It's not a good time to be looking to start loading a new caliber (it took me a couple months just to round things up for 327 Federal - a modern caliber). Ebay is replete with loading dies at twice, thrice and more than the MSRP of different makes and calibers. It's a seller's market, if you have some you don't need or want.
