mickbr,
Having searched through load books from way back to current, the were NO bullets weighing more than 250 grains.

The closest I found were entry level loads for the .44 Magnum. If you have not thought of that, you might look at some such loads with fine grained spherical powders that will compress well in a 24 inch drop tube to see if you think they are worth trying.

Good luck and be careful.

I use a .44 special load I developed about 30 years ago using a 295-grain cast with AA#9 powder with no pressure signs. The bullet was too long for my Colt Anacondas in a magnum case, so I changed to the shorter version. Velocity is 1050 from 4" to 4 5/8" barrels and 1350 from rifles. Accuracy is superb and a dozen blacktail bucks can attest its killing prowess. Over the years, I've shot at least 30K of this load, and because I shoot it often, I keep 2K loaded on my shelves.

Hope this helps.
