Good thing you said it was a .22....that patina looks good and I was getting green.....my buddy had serial number 22 and I had it here for awhile.....he took it to the Baltimore Timonium show, missing a sideplate and was pretty much beat...still brought 5 big ones and what I'm about to say is the truth no matter how crazy it sounds......my bud took it to the show looking to sell it and the guy who bought it had the sideplate that was missing! Number 22 was stamped on most all the parts. ---006

A Smith and Wesson "Volcanic Repeating Arms pistol" Is it an original or modern clone? At one time I thought someone was making a very limited number of copies?

I believe it was a Smith and Wesson development acquired by Oliver Winchester and built upon by Henry to develop his rifle. This pistol is the forerunner of lever action repeating rifles.

some years back there was an ad in gun list frm a fellow in Meteetse wyoming, advertisting that he was going to make volcanic replicas in 22, rifles and handguns; i wrote to him a couple of times and we haggled about payment terms [ i didnt want to pay the whole thing up fromt ] and never heard any more

this gun i got from an auction [ wards collectibles ] recently and it is marked as made by " Rifle Works and Armory" Cody, Wyoming. they have a website http://www.wyomingarmory.com/

but no mention of making these. they do or did make other replicas though. i suspect the guy i talked with joined them or maybe formed that company.

i have always wanted a volcanic replica , in a caliber i could shoot. it is about the neatest thing.

seems like years ago, an amazingly talented engineer/ machinist posted pictures on this site of a volcanic replica he was making in a .40 centerfire? anyone else remember that?

i dont think there are many of these 22s around, i had heard rumors of one in the past, and am happy to have it now

If Uberti made a 22 version of the Henry rifle I d be first in line to buy it especially if it was scaled down for caliber

found the pictures

these are both 22s

the rifle is small and very neat, like a kids gun,

and yes i do have two 22LR volcanic style pistols. this one is a full custom made by the same person who made this rifle

and come to think of it, i might just have some of the neatest, cutest, funnest, rarest 22s around
