PRAYERS ANSWERED!

Post by M. M. Wright »

Thanks for your prayers friends. I made it through the surgery just fine and only feel a small amount of nerve damage. At my age I feel as though I'm grasping at straws but still so much to do. Any way here I am. Oldest son needs prayers now. He had a biopsy of his pancreas Wednesday and tonight is in emergency surgery to repair a hole in his small intestine.

Prayers up! I had a biopsy of a growth on my scalp last week, and got a call today telling my it was entirely benign. It was a rare occurrence for me, seems like every time they've biopsyied something, it's come back as malignant, and they didn't get it all, I need further surgery!

I have had a couple of Squamous Cell Carcinomas removed. One took 3 years before I could get to a Dermatologist. My insurance would not allow a self referral, and 3 different General Practice Doctors told me it was just eczema. Eczema does not hurt and bleed. When my insurance finally allowed a self referral, it was biopsied and found to be malignant. The Dermatologist got it all. Grade 1, stage 1. It was about 1.25 inches long by .75 inches around by then. Kind of aggravated me that I knew it was some type of skin cancer for 3 years, but 3 different Baylor trained MDs said it wasn't.

I really think most Doctors would have caught it. Baylor is one of the main Medical Schools here. Just my opinion, but I don't think the MDs from Baylor are all that good. Their Dentists are excellent.

Son came through his surgery just fine and is now recovering. I'm just sitting around wishing I could do something but with this hole in my thigh, It's sorer than the side of my head. Surgeon took out the carotid gland and rebuilt my ear and face with a graft from my thigh. Bunches of staples still holding things together. I get the drain out of my thigh on Thursday. I feel blessed to have a Dermatologist who recognized a Squamous Cell Carcinoma and sent me to Moh's surgeon who "got it all". That was in October and a week later it was back with a vengeance growing rapidly. That's all history and now I'm going to try and get another 10 years out of this old carcass.

Thanks for the prayers. Much appreciated.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma is usually pretty mild. Problem is that it is a CANCER and doesn't care about you or any rules. Like the others, it will sometimes try to kill you.
Are you having any dry mouth after the surgery?

Yes Piller, the left side is a bit dry so I've been chewing on the other side. I do believe my surgeon was able to save the facial nerves but all is still in an uproar with little to large twinges in the nerves. You can see an area of white skin from the graft on my left cheek. Left ear is quite numb too.

Prayers for more healing sent. There are sprays and drops to help with the dry mouth. Sounds as if you are going to have to heal up a little, but that happens. Glad it didn't get to the point where your jaw and lower face had to be removed. Never trust cancer.
