Prospect Hall Shooting Club

Post by 6pt-sika »

There was a Pheasent shoot at Prospect Hall today . I borrowed a gun cart from a friend so I could take my DH 12 pigeon gun and Brutus . The birds were high and in the wind literally today . On my first peg I was able to knock two cocj birds down with Brutus . I think I knocked down 12-16 birds with both guns combined of which perhaps six were done in by Brutus .

2 peices and kinda sorta reusable. The wings take a beating but the witness caps are pretty much indestructible. Whole lotta fun to shoot and 1/3 the cost of live bird shooting.

Practice birds are 3 bucks each. We shoot either 10 bird or 20 bird races. 10 bird is $40, 20 is now $80 or $85. It's kind of pricey but again these targets are consumable. Still cheaper than pigeons. Lunch, coffee, soda &( beer) included with entry fee. And let's not forget the side betting!

If you are going to be up this way (PA) sometime this summer let me know and maybe there will be a ZZ shoot going on. Also the bunker to try!

Normally the ZZ shoots are held at M&E Sporting Clays , formally known as Wing Pointe.

Some people call them “helice” . Thanks Brutus the 8 was intresting to try at this game , but I don’t think I’ll be carrying that heavy brute again . My big reason for taking him is the fact that it’s legal in WVA . Next month at Christmas Hill in VA I’ve got a Parker 10 gauge hammer gun I might take . Those were the first birds I’d ever plunked with a hammer double barrel . Got a double on deer a few years back with a Parker 10 gauge hammer gun but as I said these were the first actual feathered birds I’d plunked with any hammer gun .

Like everything else at the present time pen raised pheasents and partridge are a little difficult to get . So this place may not have anymore Pheasent or partridge shoots this season . They have a pigeon box bird ring and the guy that puts this stuff on said he might have a quail box bird shoot . We will see on that one as I’m down next month for a Pheasent shoot at Christmas Hill one Saturday and then a Rasawek quail hunt with the Vintagers the following Saturday . If his box bird deal isn’t the same day as either of those I might make the trip again .

Zz & Helice are the same, Italy outlawed live pigeon shooting and developed helice to take its place- heck of a lot of fun! That being said, we froze our butts off today, new perazzi worked fine except for the loose nut behind the stocks! We also did a 10 bird pumpgun race. I borrowed a real nice model 12 for 5 targets then an 870 for the other 5. Now I gotta look for a model 12 trapgun!

Sold a Parker Trogan 12 gauge 30” Saturday on GB so the funds from that and some other stuff I’ve liquidated oughtta be a good bit of what I’ll need for a Parker DHE 20 gauge 30” I’ve got my eye on
