Spoke to Buck Elliot yesterday

Post by CowboyTutt »

I came across his number in an 8 year old PM no less, and decided to try calling it. Low and behold, he answered! We had a good chat. He is still around but has some health problems. He wants to get back on the forum but is having access problems that Old Savage could not fix at his access level. I pm'd Hobie and hoping he can clear things up so he can get back on. For those who don't remember him, he designed and built one of the very first leverguns in 454 Casull. -Tutt

I don't know if he was a good shot, but he was definitely a 'straight shooter'. I respect people like that. I try to be that way myself, even when it ruffles feathers ('administrative' feathers are actually fun to ruffle, just like 'snowflake' feathers... ).

Buck's access problems should have been solved and I expect he'll be back on the forum shortly.

I am too. He seemed interested in posting here again, I've done everything humanly possible to make that happen thanks to our wonderful moderators here. I've copied Buck all of the emails sent on his behalf. I hope he answers soon. -Tutt

MANY THANKS to Andy Tutt for doing the leg work to allow me access to this forum agaun.
It only took one false step the get passwords crossed up, and I found myself outside, taappin' on an empty window..
I had all but given up on finding a way back in..
Thanks to all who pushed the right buttons and flip the right switches to get me reinstated.
I originally joined the forum more than 20 years ago, in its early days, so it feels great to be back home..
Regards

Buck

Buck, you certainly deserve it!!! I'm just the "message boy" here. You did all the hard part in your lifetime to bring us a 454 Cassull levergun. I've been riding on your coat tails since I almost first starting shooting, first with Ross Seyfried 45 Colt +P loads, and then you. Thanks for coming back to us, you know I am a friend. -Tutt

Yep. Welcome back.

I have ‘locked myself out’ of many E-lectronic environments by a mid-typed password.

Other than if required for work or banking or taxes, Leverguns is the only place I’d bother re-signing-on to...

Wow Buck,
It sure is great to hear from you again. It's a shame people get lost in the shuffle and we have no way to re contact them again. You certainly have been missed. Your wisdom and humor has left a void.
Welcome home.

It's a real pleasure to see you've found your way back to camp.

We were startin' to worry.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Well, Gents,
Thanks for the Homecoming Welcome !
It's great to be back at the familiar fire, among fruends, new and old..
I never was "lost", just off exporing new country for a while, waiting for someone to clear the trail back to camp..
I found several things to keep me busy, including educating a host of newbies on Facebook in the art of six-gunning and lever actions.

While the politics of the past few years have created a horde of first-time shooters and gun owners, the world has left them woefully uneducated in the necessary fundamentals and responsibilities associated with their new interest. That's where WE need to step up and provide the history, the mechanics and the discipline so many neophytes seem to lack.
I have been active on a number of FB forum pages, trying to do just that., without getting blocked by the "certified FB Fact Checkers", or tossed in FB "jail.."

All that said, I've Ben called a liar, an idiot and a fool, more than just a few rumes, by individuals who ultimately proved to be one or another, themselves..
It's been quite a ride, and I'll continue it, but it's so good to be back in camp, suttounded by the wit and wisdom of good friends, who've been over the mountain and up the next shining river, just as I have been...
It's good to be home...
Regards

Buck

Welcome back Buck,

I took a long break (several years it seems) from the forums and only recently came back to the fire. I think the break was good for me.
