Best Stocked GunShop in Your Area

Post by Old No7 »

Seems many folks -- shooters like us, and all the new gunowners too -- are finding it hard to get what they want or need these days.

I was at a BassPro in NH the other day (don't normally shop there, but it's close to the skeet field we used) and their selection of centerfire handguns was all the high-end stuff, and none of the <$400 half-plastic guns many people want these days. All they had left for shotguns was the over $1,000 sporting or field models, and the clerk said they "get calls daily from Mass from people looking for short-barreled shotguns". I like guns with wood & walnut, so I'll admit I didn't even bother to look at their AR or plastic guns selection.

The same clerk said they had folks from Mass buying bows and cross-bows "just to have something in the house that shoots". Scary times, for sure...

Anyway, I understand if Levergunners around the country don't want to give up their favorite gun stores, but I'll say that if any Levergunners in the NH or ME area want to visit a really well-stocked gunshop -- complete with a wide variety of Henry, Marlin or Browning lever guns (not what the new-to-guns-crowd wants these days) they should visit:

L.L. Cote in Errol, NH -- Home of the stuffed White Moose (see below)

They have a really decent selection of used guns too, as that's where I got my Sharps recently.

Cheers.

None in my neck of the woods. There used to be a ton of them but now mostly junk and not much of that. I was in a place here yesterday that had two original 1886's. Man I wanted to make an offer on one but pretty sure it would cause a divorce.

Traditionally, it has been Martin B Retting. I haven't been in for a bit so I don't know how they are now.

Here in Arkansas, we have a lot of gun shops. I have probably 10 to 15 within a 30 mile radius. Ammo is getting scarce in 9mm, .223, and a few other calibers. Some are geared towards the black guns and tactical, but lots of them have or are libel to have anything, that might be used. No one has a good or complete line of new guns, however, Bass Pro
( used to be Cabela's) comes the closest, but another gunshop has an extensive line of handguns, or at least did have before this little run on gun we are seeing right now.

Gun show this week, but I don't need anything, a little nervous to be in a crowded place like a gun show can be. I could have gotten a table, but decided not to. Might have been a good time to sell a few guns.

I need to look. I had stocked up a while back. I am starting to run down to where I consider getting more. I only have 1 pound of CFE pistol. Never tried it yet. Got to digging the other night. I found 4 pounds of powder I had forgotten about. 2 pounds of 3031 and 2 pounds of W296. I have several things that those work for.

My lgs are out of primers and some powders. Local classifieds are asking $100-150 for a thousand CCI small pistol primers. Best stocked gunshop in my area....my basement.

.
Definitely Cabela's.
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

I hear you !

I certainly am better stocked for reloading components then any of the local shops . Well that isn't totally true as a bunch of my shotgun stuff is at my desk in the back of my friends shop where I've been loading shotgun shells for my self for over a month now .

Went in a friends gunshop down the street from the one I'm normally in , this guy we send all our customers to for ammo . ANyway I walked in one day last week as I wanted to get a couple thou small pistol primers (which he didn't have) . And his usually super well stocked shelves were almost bare for rifles , shotguns , pistols and AMMO . His backroom was vertually EMPTY and as I said earlier his primer selection was no more for anything except shotgun primers .

Looks like every four years same old same old .
