advice about buying cast bullets

Post by wm »

I used to buy all my cast bullets from a local guy who had a commercial business casting them. He retired.

Now I need to buy some bullets …… where can I generally get good quality bullets at a reasonable price?

I know I could just google up a bunch of names and outlets but that doesn't tell me about quality of their product or customer service.

So …… point me in good direction.

Wm

P.S. Initially I want 2000 158 grain LSWC for practice but eventually I'll also need some 44 240gr LSWC, & 45 250 gr LSWC as well.

I have been shooting Oregon Trail Lasercast bullets for years and years, and will continue to do so.

Laser Cast has always shot good good for me.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Lasercast and Cast Performance have worked for me. I do not shoot a lot of cast stuff, but it seems that my experience matches that of others.

Bear Creek Supply makes inexpensive plain base moly coated bullets that are very popular with the silhouette shooters around here.

I'll second missouri bullets. They are both cheaper and less to ship from
https://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/ve ... ndorId/175 than from the factory.....they also offer three of four different alloy options on their most popular items.....

Only in the last two years have I been using cast bullets again. So far, I've had good luck with the plastic coated bullets from Missouri. One thing I like is they have both a hard and a soft alloy in a number of their designs. For my low pressure .38 Spl loads I use the soft alloy.

I use Badman bullets or Cheycast if I don't feel like casting my own. I usually get lighter weight 38 cal. bullets and oft times, powder coated ones.
