A friend of mine was asked to try out for a film, he's a cowboy action shooter, when he found out what film it was he declined
It was the film you speak of
That's 2 county's north of me, haven't heard what it's about, but I can just about guess

They filmed a lot of that about 5 miles from my house. I don't know how the movie will be due to what its based on but I will still check it out.

Jones County, MS is said by locals to have seceded from the Confederacy. I suspect the movie is about Newton Knight who created a group that was against the Confederacy. Lots of stories in Jones County about the subject. Whether there was an actual secession is questionable. Google Newton Knight for a more complete story.
