Ruger GP100 Holster Pattern

Post by cnjarvis »

Fellas,

I'm the proud owner of a new Ruger GP100 in 357 Mag. With a 4.2" barrel.

Now it needs a holster to go with it and I'm thinking about making one myself. I can make my own pattern but really don't want to fiddle with it. I'm looking for something similar to the Bianchi 111 Cyclone.http://www.safariland.com/belt-slide/mo ... ml#start=1 without the molding.

Does anyone have a pattern they'd be willing to share?

I carry my 4" Redhawk in one of Rob's Simply Rugged holsters. It works for me. If you're making it yourself you could add a strap.

Here is a holster pattern I made up . It will fit either the Ruger GP or BlackHawk. The pattern is for cross draw but could easily be made into strong side and flipped for left hand if needed. The one in the picture is wet molded to and fits my 4 5/8" BlackHawk. The same pattern is a good fit to the 4" GP 100 when wet molded to that gun. Or you could modify to any barrel length easily.

I would be glad to share that pattern if you like it. PM me with your address and I will mail you a paper
copy full sized. Chuck

Here is the same pattern with both guns.

Chuck, that's some nice leather!

I'd love to have a go at making one of those. PM inbound.

I will get it out in today's mail friend. I have redone that pattern, after those pictures were taken , to make the curve in the trigger area higher and cover the trigger better and changed the angle of the strap a little and lengthened the strap a little also. There are allways little fine tuning changes one does to a pattern to make it better for you. Have fun! :D

Do you put a welt in yours?

No welt ( gusset?) needed unless you go with 10 oz. + leather or use a double stitch row. 8-9 oz. leather is what I use for most holsters unless I want to make a very stiff one. Have fun, Chuck

95% complete. Still need to dress the stitched edge of the leather and lightly wet-mold it. The snap is located where it won't contact/rub the gun.

Looks like you did a real fine job on that holster, is that your first one?

It's my first holster but I've made 4 or so fixed-blade knife sheaths before.

I still need to work on my stitching. The front looks good but the back side looks like I'd been drinking...

Now, that is lookin good! I like the closed toe too. I make one similar to that for the 1911 in either open or closed toe. I believe I prefer closed toe. Cool, good job! :D

cnjarvis, I see your home town was in the news this morning with some kind of standoff going down. The news featured a story about a little kid who wanted to help the police but they did not say much about the standoff. Typical reporting from a Portland OR station.

Chuck, I was aware of it but hadn't really paid attention to it. The location is about 8 miles from me as the crow flies.

I am new to this community, I registered after seeing this older string and was hoping that someone might see this response and be willing to send me a copy of the gp100 pattern that was available then?
