Win38-55,
I'd suggest a bit smaller scope, a Leupold VXI 2-7x33 HD in silver finish. I just think a 3-9x40 is too large a scope to mount on a 336 and might spoil the lines of an otherwise great looking rifle. The 7x is plenty of power for the longest shots you might attempt with this particular rifle. Just my opinion. Good Luck
