I'll post up some pictures of a good barrel so you can compare.

These pictures were taken with a $34 bore scope a few of us gun nuts bought on Ebay from Hong Kong. For the $$, it works pretty good....

For comparison:

Here is a brand new (150 rounds) 1886 Winchester 45-70, no Black Powder and not cleaned after last 50 rounds fired:

Very interesting - now get a top quality bore and examine it. And what will the darn bore scope itself look like in 128 years? :D

That's really interesting. Hard to believe anything would shoot worth a darn down that '73.

Well U said it was a sewer pipe, not that We didn't believe You but now We have proof. Is this before any cleaning ? It would be hard to imagine that shooting worth a flip.

I cleaned a ton of rust and black fouling out of the bore and then I used a bronze brush with 0000 steel wool wrapped around it in an attempt to clean it up. These are the results. Ugh!

That pretty much sets the standard for the term 'sewer pipe' for us all now.

Can you give us more information on the bore scope? Possibly a link/pictures? That looks like a good deal for the money.
