Sgt. U.S.M.C. 6/24/1964 - 2/29/1968 (leap year)
Medically retired on disability
Vietnam service with Echo battery, 12th. Marine Regt. 7/1965 - 3/1967

Since Memorial Day -- Decoration Day as it was once known -- is about & for those who made the Supreme Sacrifice, lest I forget:

PFC David L Felt , USMC, DOB 04/05/46, Sacramento, CA KIA 08/17/65
Lt. Peter Paul Domiano, USMC, DOB 10/18/43, Industry, NY KIA 07/01/66
PFC Billy Dean Nelson, USMC, DOB 06/30/47, Lommis, NE KIA 07/20/66
PCF Bradley Alan Pearson, USMC, DOB 11/27/46,Clear Lake, WI KIA 07/20/66

And most of all:
PFC John Alton Girod JR, USMC, DOB 06/14/44, Denham Springs, LA KIA 02/21/66

The German song "Ich hatte einen Kameraden" --"I had a comrade" is played on German Remembrance Day . Part of it goes:

A bullet flew towards us
meant for me or meant for you?
It took him away,
he lies beneath my feet
like a piece of myself.
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

G_d, bless the souls of those, our brothers, who have not come home because they made their ultimate sarifice for our People and our liberty. Lord, shelter their loved ones, left behind.

:cry:
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Army Security Agency, Viet Voice Intercept Operator
11th Armored Cavalry / 409th RRD
NSA
(Viet Nam volunteer, VFW, American Legion, Oathkeeper)

Remembering
* Sp5 Harry J Colon, one of my replacements, whom I never met (sniper fire)
Remembering comrades and their aggrieved families:
* Sgt. Donald Sykes, my track driver (sniper fire, killed 2nd tour with 11th Cav)
* 1st Lt. John F. Cochrane, truly the finest officer I ever met; a young officer who played cards, joked and wrestled with troops on down time, yet commanded their unanimous and absolute respect and loyalty; and who (I learned 35 years later from his lovely widow) prayed daily over his men. Ambushed in jeep by land mine, then killed with sniper fire. Was due for R&R within a week with his newly wedded sweetheart in Hawaii - a tearjerker for me every year.

Let us also not forget those
- who served this country, whether in a combat zone or not;
- are still suffering by fighting their own battles emotionally and mentally;
- never were found (MIA); and
- are still at their battlefield from their injuries - at home, in VA hospitals, and elsewhere:
the all but forgotten heroes who are still at war;
- and for those who are serving now.

And for the ultimate Peacekeeper Who gave His life in the spiritual battle for our souls - Jesus Christ

Indeed, there is a lot to remember on this Holiday...

God bless and keep you all, and your families, with a sincere hand salute.
