Cast bullet and 94Win = Deer

Post by Marvin S »

Got a decent little buck first thing opening morning with a Pre 64 Mod94 30-30 that I bought from Dave a couple months ago. Bullet was a home cast 165 Ranch Dog. One shot and it went about 30 yards and fell over dead. Shot was only about 25yards in very thick cover. I think I had about two heart attacks dragging it out.

Well I think I deleted the deer picture in trying to figure this high tech stuff out. The only picture I was able to save was of the knife and hawk I used to field dress it. They are both hand made, the knife was a coil spring in it's former life and would still shave hair when done. I find a hawk a must for these task also.

Congrats dude! :D

Wow! Cast bullets can kill deer???? You mean, about 99% of reloaders are spending $60 for 50 premium bullet heads when thats all you have to do is melt down some common wheelweights or at worst, buy some commercial cast bullets for $20/100? Thats great!

I know, I'm a smart-azz. Probably why I go through 6-8K a year of those lead beauties. ----------------Sixgun
