Excellent interview with Tom Selleck. a must see

Post by RIHMFIRE »

On the eve of his induction into the Hall of Great Western Performers, actor/producer Tom Selleck sat down for an interview with Don Reeves. Selleck recounts an incredible career in western filmmaking and what he is up to now. The interview was shot on April 16, 2010 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. He talks about the guns, his spurs, his horses, saddles
and the other characters he worked with... its +18 minutes long

That was great Rihmfire. Thanks for passing it along. I remember watching the Shadow Riders in the early 80's with him and Sam Elliott and Ben Johnson, and thinking that is the first authentic looking Western I'd ever seen. He raised the bar on making authentic westerns, and is truly one of the Greats in both his acting and in being a spokesperson for our Freedoms. Well done Mr. Selleck!

I was at Tractor Supply the other day and saw a flashy glossy western magazine with Tom as the featured interview. I just glanced through it as I was in a hurry. I looked enough to see that he lives on his own avocado ranch and then there was the last paragraph. In the last paragraph he remembered the talk that Monte Walsh was having with Chet when Chet was going to go into the hardware business. Chet said " Monte you can't be a cowboy for ever." It brought me great sadness to read that and think there might never be another western with Tom Selleck in it

I was at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum at 10:00 A.M. that day for the first day of issure ceremony of the Cowboys of the Silver Screen stamps issued by the Postal Service. There were alot of things going on at the museum that day. If you are ever in Oklahoma City the museum is definately worth visiting. :)

That was great!

I have spent a little time at the Big Bend Saddlery, where he got the Monte Walsh spurs, watching them work on leather. My late friend/brother had his spur straps made there if I remember right.

Thanks for posting.

I've been watching Tom Selleck's latest TV show, "Blue Bloods", on CBS on Fridays. Good little cop drama. Selleck is great in the role. :D

I remember my wife's first comment about Selleck as we were watching Selleck & Elliot together in a western... "when Tom Selleck grows up, he'll be almost as good as Sam Elliot." I happen to think that he's surpassed that point some time back!
