OT - best beer for the buck

Post by O.S.O.K. »

I've seen posts listing all the most prefered beers by beer drinkers.

How about the best beer for the coin?

In my book - its Miller High Life - Its priced like the "budget beers" but to me its still "the champagn of beers". At least, its tastes good to me - especially in the long neck bottles.

So, what's your pick for the best beer for the buck?

Agreed!
Here it is $5.99 a 12pk for the clear long neck bottles. (that really is tough to beat)

I also like Miller High Life. Another that I like is Coors. Those are the two "non premium" beers that are usually found in my fridge or cooler. Kevin

Back in the day....... "BEER" beer in the white can was about a buck a sixpack at the base Shopette. Old Milwaukee was a decent cheap buzz at about the same buck a six pack. Now-a-days, I really don't drink much, but if I wanted more than a couple, Coor's Light would do the trick. I'd really rather have one or two really good ones than a bunch of cheap, light ones.

Our go-to: Waialua Hawaiian root beer. And the house-brew root beer at Shilo's deli in downtown SA is first-rate.

Back to the original question - hard to beat Shiner Bock for the price - Texas German beer.

I did a little study on feeding beer to livestock to increase their weight. It depends: Which type of buck are you talking about - Mulie, Elk, or...?

Hmmm, getting a straight answer today is about like herding cats. :P

Root beers? Premium beers? Ungulates?

Cmnon guys - you know exactly what I'm getting at.

How about Natty Lights?

Cheap but decent beer - what's the pick?

Old Style?

OK - my honest answer, despite the howls that will emanate from this statement: Fisher Beer is the best cheap beer.

That's the one made in Utah, not "Fisher's Beer."

Many would tell me that this is terrible, cheap beer. It was indeed cheap; but there was something in the tang that I loved. I don't drink at all, now, but I still occasionally miss the hoppy flavor of that beverage on a hot day.

I liked Falstaff when i could get it in my area. Any other beer i drink is typically of the "cheap domestic" variety though (usually Bud Light) -- not sure if BL is even worth a nomination

I wish I could enjoy cheap beer but I don't. Won't drink bud/coors/miller light even if it was free.

I prefer my barely pop to have some color

My preference is for amber and darker ales like Boundary Bay Cabin Fever, Moose Drool, Pikes Kilt lifter and such. Alaskan Amber is the cheapest beer I enjoy at about $25/ case. If you can see your fingers on the other side of the glass I probably won't like it.

Keystone Ice $1.09 for a 24oz can. Made by Coors. Even has the BLUE Mtns on can so you know its cold enough to drink.. IF I could get MGD bottles for $5.99 a 12=pac that would be my 2nd choice.

Shiner beer. There is no other for civilized guests.

At the deer lease or when otherwise camping, Lone Star or PBR will suffice.

You'd expect a lot from a bottle of beer costing $765. What you get is 55 percent alcohol — and served in a squirrel.

According to Scottish firm BrewDog, "The End of History" is the "strongest, most expensive and most shocking beer in the world."

Just 12 bottles were made and the company has already sold out. They will be shipped out to buyers in the United States, Canada, Italy, Denmark, Scotland and England next week.

The dead animals which were used to create the beers' unusual appearance were four squirrels, seven weasels and a hare. All were roadkill, James Watt, co-founder of BrewDog, told msnbc.com.

The name of the blond Belgian ale is taken from the title of a book by philosopher Francis Fukuyama, "The End of History and the Last Man" which the company said had been chosen to imply "this is to beer what democracy is to history."

Watt said the beer should be treated with care when drinking.

"It tastes more like a whisky and you have got to handle it in that way as opposed to the way you would handle a normal beer," he told msnbc.com.

It contains juniper berries and nettles, and its taste, Watt said, has hints of cinnamon, orange and an "American hops flavor."

He said this was the last in a series of high-strength beers that the company had produced and there were no plans to go higher.

'Degrading' to animals
The decision to wrap the bottle in a dead animal was taken to indicate how special the beer was, blending brewing, taxidermy and "art."

In my case, the beer of choice is tied by tradition to the activity at hand.

It's Miller High Life in elk camp, in honor of a favorite hunting buddy; formerly of Bozeman, MT, & now in Gillette, WY.

PBR's are with us on all trout fishing outings.

Coors Original when on the boat or camping in the mountains.

Rolling Rock when home.

It just sort of evolved that way.

Right with ya.

But, since I dislike sugar pop - and it's more expensive than beer ta boot - my "barly pop" of choice (never drunk for taste, only for hydration) is usually Keystone Light.

Bier es brot. You shouldn't be able to see through it. But barley pop is just that. Pop.

Cheap beer? Is that what I hear? Heaven forbid. I refuse to imbibe cheap beer. Beer is a form of food and in my opinion you should consume the best. After all it is going into your body.
