paper patched bullets for the .38-55?

Post by homefront »

I have a ton (no exaggeration) of pure lead, waiting to be made into .54 caliber BP rounds for my Hawken. I'll certainly never use even a fraction of it that way, but it might be usable in my .38-55 if I paper patch the bullets.
Anyone have paper patch experience? Can you direct me to a mold maker?

Thanks.

I have limited experieince with Paper Patching I have done some by taking 44 Cal bullets and patching them big enough to shoot from the 45/70 Worked fairly well WIll work better with straight sided bullets designed for paper patching
I have read several times in the past year of guys taking 38/55 bullets Running them through a 239/ 360 sizer then paper patching them for the 38/55 Seems to be wroking wellfor them SOrry cant think of any particular articles off hand to referrence for you

Veral Smith says he can make any of his bullets to be used for paper patching.
