I remembered i had this old fan in the shed so took it in the shop and messed with it and got it running.
It run on vacuum thus why i`m blowing air in the exhaust hole.

Those were useful as defrosters as long as you weren't pulling a hill where you needed all your vacuum just to make it up. Wipers were the same. You had to let off the gas to get a swipe across the windshield. Very interesting.

If you think the vacuum wipers were a pain the diesel trucks 40 years ago had air wipers that worked OK until the compressor started pumping oil. The o-rings would swell up and the wipers quit working.
The cars I owned, Buicks, all had booster pumps to make up for the drop in vacuum when under load. The 57 Roadmaster had the booster in the oil pump and the 56 Century had the pump in the fuel pump.
As long as the wiper motor was in good shape and both sources of vacuum worked you had wipers when needed.

Sounds like it was an interesting idea for a time when electrical systems were more primitive.

I had a BSA with intermittent lights once. I think those were Lucas or maybe Smith. Best limey bike I had was a Norton Combat Commando. I still have fond memories of that sucker after I took the Amals off it and substituted a single Mikuni.

Those are cool Pitchy! That second one looks art deco, is it dash mounted for inside cooling?
I think it`s a model A heater the water lines attach to the two pipes.

Slick! Remember those old time a/c units that hung outside the window?
No i don`t remember seeing one of those.
This little heater is pretty cool and could be mounted in anything that has a radiator.

i remember swamp coolers in cars, before refrigeration i think, or at least not for normal folks... back in the day when we soaked the water bag and hung it on the front grill to air condition it to something below boiling . . .
