Parker GH 20 gauge

Post by 6pt-sika »

Made another plunge today ! A friend in Savanah sent me a message with a link to a gun a fairly well known dealer in Dallas put on Guns International yesterday . A circa 1905 Parker GH 20 gauge 0 frame with 30” Damascus barrels . I called the dealer a couple times as he was on the road to Colorado . When I got in touch with him we struck up a deal . So now I’ve got Parker 20’s with 26 , 28 and 30 inch barrels . The 26 is IC/M , the 28 is M/F and this 30 is also M/F . I think this oughtta do me for 20’s unless I can put my hands on a nice DH/DHE 20 at a very very reasonable price . Kinda like the 16’s I’d like a DH/DHE 16 or possibly a 32” gun otherwise I’m flush . A few pics from the GI listing .

I restocked a DH 20 for a family fried years ago. His mother kept it in the basement stairway and somehow she knocked it down the stairs, stock broke through the wrist and the forearm split length wise. Gun still had 50% case color, great blueing- I tried to buy it but he wouldn't sell it.

I’d like some day to have DH/DHE’s in 16 and 20 . I’ve got DH guns in 10 and 12 already . There’s a DH 20 28” that belonged to a friend about five miles from me but his son who I went to school with wants about 5G’s more than what it’s worth .

Well I’m a lot peeved ! What was listed on GI as a 20 gauge is now supposedly a 16 gauge . Took me a week of constant trying to get in contact with the guy to get his contact info and then he said nice 16 blah blah blah . So I’m not getting the gun pictured .

Oh really !! That is FALSE advertisement- you wanted a 20, paid for a 20 and he is sending a 16!! That ain't right. If it were me I'd demand my money back.

No no , it took me a week to get in touch with him he didn’t reply to voicemails etc so I didn’t have an address to mail the check . And today he told me as he was about to give me the address that it was a great little 16 ! And I said huh it was advertised as a 20 . I question whether he had later offers possible anyway I never sent money because he’d not given me an address to send it . So no money changed hands .

Ah gotcha.
You say this guy is a well known dealer? Either he doesn't handle the listings or he doesn't really know what it what.

Do you watch Cobbs website? He usually has quite a few Parker's on hand.

That's too bad but glad you didn't get burned. I have looked at some parkers in the past with Damascus barrel but have read conflicting opinions on whether they are safe to shoot. If you had gotten that would you have shot it?

I wouldn’t have been intrested in it if I wasn’t gonna shoot it . I have perhaps three dozen damascus/twist guns I shoot often .
