Re: "Some" .357 Handguns Are Delicate
Model 19s will not stand a steady diet of full power 357 loads. Ok to shoot 38 special plus-p all day long. I am on my third one and learned from shooting the first 2 with 357 loads and they got loose and cracked the barrel forcing cones. I still like the model 19 but limit the load pressures. Look ...

Re: It might be that owning a .32 Winchester Special has some advantages
Yup,LGS near me has 24 boxes of 32 special, 30 of 10mm, 12 303 Brit., 20 300wsm, even a bunch of 28 gauge slugs. No 30-30 or other common loads. Another shop got in a case of WIN 38-55 last week. Half of it gone already at $50 a box. Forget 22lr,none to be had at any price around here.

Re: Levergun accuracy
Well, like they say accuracy is where you find it. Shortly after Henry came out with the brass side gate model I bought a 30-30 example. It has been the most accurate lever gun I have ever shot. Shooting from a Lead Sled with Federal blue box 150 grain loads it has routinely shot 3/4 inch groups. Wit...

Yup,I have also discovered you can do multiples if they are close to the same caliber. I did finally get the "proper" crimp dies for each case just to keep myself honest!

Re: why did we all choose lever actions?
In my formative years there was always lever actions used for hunting. My grandfather used a Winchester model 92 38WCF that I have today. My father hunted with a model 94 Winchester 30-30 carbine that my son owns today. My father bought me a new model 94 in 1962 that I still own. We still use those ...

Re: You gotta love quality.....
Yup, I don't even consider my Rossi/Puma/LSI 454 even safe to shoot with full power 454 loads. I will not load beyond 45LC pressures as I have got a good look at the poor quality machining and assembly in the receiver and it is scary. I will not be leaving this one to the grand kids! My plan is to u...

Re: 'Winchesters' vs 'Winchesters' vs 'Winchesters'
I own Winchesters starting with 1905 production to 1961 produced lever actions. I don't believe Winchester ever made a production model equal to the quality of the repo Mirokus. As to the Rossi 92 clone, I have a 92 carbine stainless 454 (marketed by LSI) that has been a real thing. The very first f...

Re: The Savage combo guns
For the member looking for the .410 slug ballistics: I am looking at a box of Winchester 3 inch loads and it shows 1,800 fps with a 1/4 ounce rifled slug. I know of 2 hunters that have killed deer with this ammo.

Those guns have a loyal following. Go to Savage24.com as it is a great site for all matters about the 24 series. I have even read threads about inserts there.

Re: Henry 327 Fed Levergun....accurate...?
With velocity spreads of 200 fps is it any wonder we can't get good accuracy with the 327. The 327 operates at such high pressure that it makes it fussy! Reducing the loads did help the accuracy a lot in my testing. I ended up not much faster than the 32h&r to get good accuracy. Makes me wonder ...

Re: How did henry get so popular?
Popular? What planet are you on? I have hunted the Vermont woods for 65 years and the only Henry I have seen is the new side gate I own. I hauled it around last deer season and it will not return to the woods again. With a scope, mounts and sling it is way too heavy. Most of the Henry products need ...

Re: Winchester 94 32 Special
According to the Winchester Collector Association your model 94 was made in 1903. Their database is derived from The Cody Firearms Museum from the Winchester Polishing Room records discovered after New Haven plant closed. This data is now considered the gold standard for dating old Winchesters. So y...

Six months with new Henry side loader
I have shot about 70 rounds through my 30-30 side loader. I have shot 50 factory loads and 20 hand loads all at my range. My experience and observations are: The good: gun is scary accurate with Federal 150gr and even better with 36 gr BL(C) -2 with sierra 150 pro-hunter. 3/4 inch with factory and l...

Re: New to me - Browning Medalist
I have one of those in a left hand version. I used it for competition when I shot on the Air National Guard Pistol team. I bought this gun new. Have not shot it in years. A Browning rep told me only a very few left hand versions were made.

Re: My Opinion
Well, I have both Ruger Blackhawks and Colts and as far as utility I always use the Rugers. I shoot the same hand loads in the Rugers as my 92 Winchesters. I would not even think of using those loads in a Colt single action. Yes I like the feel and history of an old Colt in my hand but only shoot mi...

Re: Ruger 32-20/32 H&R Convertible
A Gunsmith near me has a 32 cal Buckeye and has reamed the 32 H & R cal cylinder to 327 Fed mag. He told me those guns are so stout they can easily stand the increased pressure. I load my 32 HR cases with 4.5 gr of W231 with a 85 gr XTP. With 100 gr XTP I use 4 gr of W231 For the Buckeye. I also...

Re: Ruger 32-20/32 H&R Convertible
Actually, the 32H&R / 32-20 and the 38-40 / 10 mm Blackhawk convertibles were called Buckeye Specials. Ruger made these for Buckeye Sports distributors in Ohio. I have both guns. I think they were made in 1989 and 1990. They both have a Buckeye symbol stamped on the top strap.
