I never warmed to the post or blade xs style front sight with my aperture rear sights. Either a very fine bead, as on my Marlin .22, or a fiber bead, as on my .357 and 45/70, help me quite a bit. The bead is the bullet, just center it and squeeze... but I am in the minority as usual I see ..,

My Marlin 1894 .44 mag will not stabilize 320g bullets it the 1:38 barrel. My hand guns stabilize them just fine. I gave up on trying to get one load for hand gun and rifle. The marlin shoots 240 jsp just fine.

What's wrong with a 150 yard zero? With that high velocity zinger load it makes perfect sense.
Might be interesting to try a variety of bullets before altering the gun. Light ones. Heavy ones. There might be one the gun favors just the way it is..... It's all about the gun.

My chronograph experience was similar. There are lots of variables. I shot standing off hand. I'm sure I introduced lots of variables of bullet location going over the sensors. I bet you should use a bench rest setup and a vice if possible to keep the bullets traveling as close to the same line as p...
