Re: How do you get consistent throws from powder measure?
I’ve tried tapping twice on the intake and the dispense. It seems to help but I still get a flyer once in a while. I don’t think any of these charges are dangerous for what I might load but It seems like a lot of variance. Maybe a baffle or tapping the column with something each throw may help

How do you get consistent throws from powder measure?
I have a little experience handloading but have always scooped and tricked my powder onto a scale. I’m trying to set up my Hornady measure to throw about 6.0 grains of Unique so I can use it for several cartridges. I can get my adjustment close but no matter what technique I try I get too much varia...

Most bullet makers have a bullet or three designed specifically for 30-30s to work in lever actions. Just crimp in the cannelure. I wouldn't mess with other bullets designs or changes in length unless I were using a single shot or box mag

Wish I had gotten a 356 with brass and dies back in the nineties. Always thought it was well rounded cartridge for a tube fed rifle.
Thinking of getting a rebore to 338-06. I would just need dies. I can use 3006 brass, my powders for 308 and my bullets for the RCM. I don't need it but ....

I tend to stick with 230s mainly because they are easy to find and shoot to the sights in my 1911 and my smith 22. The Kimber shoots everything close to the sights the revolver shoots low in porortion to bullet weight. Thought of trying some heavyweights especially in the revolver for a field load

If it will expand in a 38 snub nose even less than than optimally, I think you will be okay at 950.

Much more variety than I expected. The specs in the catalog need work. There are a lot of models showing identical lengths despite having different barrel lengths. Some weights seems illogical too. So who knows what is accurate. Might be time to start shopping for a short 357 though

The Henry was the least expensive in the US when it competed with Marlin, browning and Winchester. They seemed to have gone up since Walmart has drastically curtained there gun sales. I'm not sure. Some cartridges have reputations of great accuracy and some not so much but I've seen more variation in guns and loads than I have in cartridges. But I've never seen a 357 revolver or 45 acp of any type than didn't shoot well. Both cartridges generally have a good reputation for accura...

I don't think I have ever seen data for the Special with 300 grains. About 6 grains of Unique seems to duplicate standard velocity with 240s so I would think a bit less than that. We know most large frame revolvers can safely take a bit more though. You could probably easily sell your bullets if you...

To be fair the cartridge is exploring new territory in the .277 bore size. No other 270 has been designed or is optimal to launch streamlined bullets weighing up to 175 grains. It is basically a Creedmore approach done to the 270 WSM. It probably is in the same niche as the 7mm magnums and possibly ...

I kind of feel the same way. It was developed with a few nuances to make a light recoiling long range target cartridge.
