Thanks for the replies. The idea was prompted by the limited choice in 32-40 bullets. They seem to be pretty much limited to 170Gr FPs.

I will be using a single shot with a new Montana Rifleman barrel.

Yeah, they (Uberti) make the carbine in 19". I can't check on the Short Rifles. I'm in the midst of a move and my Madis is still in a box.........somewhere - :? I had a Short Rifle in .357 Mag but got a hang up about the non-original chambering and the gun not being a real Winchester..............
