Most rifles are capable of 1" groups at 100 yd with their best loads in my experience. The couple I have that weren't responded to bedding and the two that were the worst are now among the best. A Ruger 77R in 7x57 would go 2 1/2" by 4" groups but after bedding the tang and recoil lug...

4227 is too fast for the 308 except for some specialty loads. 4895 or the like in speed is more the proper range. Lots of data around on that.

Regular late fall - high 30s to the low 50s overnight and 50s, 60s may be 70s in the day. Bright and clear. :P

Excellent long range caliber - my hand loads have taken deer and antelope at 350 yds +. Now the kicker is not by me or in my guns. I never owned one but loaded for a couple of other fellows. 120 gr Speer BT and 50.0 gr IMR 4831 - 3020 fps. One rifle was Ruger #1, the other was a custom Remington 700...

Sounds like you have made a total avocation of using this one cartridge - what is it you do to be able to spend so much time afield? When I was a kid I spent some part of every day in the fields, woods or at some stream - then came sports and girls.

Just had rains here over an inch last night and before - portends for a wet year. Last year was dry and the forests are over managed by the lady ranger who thinks they are hers. Have to see what they are up to then.

6pt, I had two old friends who each summer would as they said pack the high country, the Sierras, with horses and mules. Back then they each carried a sixgun - one a 22 mag 3 screw and the other a 44 mag three screw - one for bear if need be and the other for small game.

Plenty of reliable people have witnessed craft/??? doing things way beyond our capability. None of the attempted explanations address that in any realistic way. This includes a few I know but none myself.

Hobie, I went in to order one of the 44 Spls but this was there at a great price and it seems very well fitted - the cylinder/barrel is quite close and the grip/frame fitting is very well done. Cylinder lock up is tighter than most Rugers. I'd like to know how that 44 Spl is when you get it. My favo...

25 miles to the range there New Pig - up and down hill - a lot - warped my rotors - come on up to Lancaster some time and we'll take the 375s out there. :)
