That price is right on the edge of the high end in my area. Not out of line, just the upper range. It could be a Belgium model or a Miroku model or even a early Model 81. All are good rifles. If it is a pre 81 and as has already been pointed out - those magazines are scare and very pricey.

Well, it is a steel framed Model 81 and should be a good one. If you like it, and you should - get a spare magazine before they go up in price like the pre 81's. We have had some lean years for quail here in north Florida, until a few years ago. We are now experiencing a population growth that is amazing. They are everywhere, even in habitat that is traditionaly not quail friendly. We have the ants, coyotes, cats etc.. Hope they stay well populated.

What's the " contains no glass " printed on the box for...? :?: IIRC, from Hatchers Notebook, glass (ground) was used as a filler (additive) in an attempt to reduce fouling. I don't remember if it was in the primer or powder though. Maybe someone else has a better memory or the book nearby.

Can't be totally sure, but I think it is just your magazine tube is not exactly centered under the barrel. Slightly loosen the front magazine band screw and twist (push) the tube over to the right - when looking from the barrel end. BTW, that happens quite often when they are assembled/re-assembled.
