It sticks around because it has worked. Tom Furguson ... San Antonio PD and gunwriter in the '80's used it on more than several occasions .. I personally know of 2 others.

I have my grandpa's Stevens Marksman .. single shot .22 break open. I have left it to my first grandson. The gun has ...

I was walking into a bar. I saw an old guy with a fishing pole fishing in a mud puddle in the middle of the parking lot. I felt so bad for this crazy old dude, that I asked him to come in for a beer. Trying to think of something to say as we drank, I asked him, "How many have you caught today?&...

Close. Diameter is a bit small for my application. Glen Fryxell pointed me to a guy who casts and sells them for $15 a hundred. Jim, It's an AE model? OK, I did what Ji did long ago. Works great. However if you do that you still might have to do or have done a trigger job to bring down the pull to a reasonable weight. I cheated on my final year of production Trapper by replacing the whole lower factory coil spring lower tang with a leaf spring tang from an early 70s model. Re: Winchester Model 94 Mainspring
Jim, If I might ask, why did you replace the mainspring on your 94? My 1980 Trapper has it's original spring and goes bang right nicely. Joe I was fixing it so it would run smoother ... cutting coils off the original spring. But I got it to where ignition was erratic. Would not set off a hard prime...

According to Speer the pressures are safe. 32 gr. H322 with the Speer 130 gr. bullet is midway between the light load and the maximum load in their loading manual. Quickload is neat. I did not mention that I am shooting a Model 94 Trapper. I am getting those velocities from the short barrel. I have a target here from a guy who is experimenting with LVR and the 130 gr. Speer. My Levergun Weekend did not work out.
Family situation came up and I needed to be there. I ran out to the range this morning and fired a few shots. Not enough to tell anything yet. My best groups were with the Speer 130 gr. JFP. That doesn't mean anything yet because I only shot 3 groups with each. I ran some through the chronograph. Bo...

SAAMI specs for the 32-20
Bore .305"
Groove .311"
Bullet .3125
These vary but most bullets for the 32-20's are .311" from the manufacturers. There are no accuracy issues with them.

"Punch" may not be the last thing on the list but probably should be. A good reliable 22 always at hand is better than the more powerful gun left at home. In the few face to face encounters I have had, I never noticed or cared what caliber gun the other person had. Nor did they inquire abo...
