I have a Mini-30 and everything said above fits my experience with it. I have an aftermarket magazine which is useless and one which works great, both from the same manufacturer. Go Figure! For fun, reliability, and ease of shooting, they are great.

Yes, it is possible that the powder has changed. IMR 4227 and H4227 are an example. They both were available at one time, but now there is just IMR4227 and they are very close, but not the same. I would not use the old load data because if there is a change in the powder, you could cause a problem. ...

I have a S&W Model 99 compact in 40 caliber which loves 165 grain hollow points. In a tuckable holster it is invisible and easily accesible. I would not wish to use it on a bear or one of the bigger wild hogs.

Good grief. Back when I jumped from 800 feet I at least had a parachute on and a static line to make sure it opened. Climbing that without a parachute seems a little risky to me.

I have both a .270 and a .30-06, and I like both of them. I don't really think there would have been much difference with using a 150 grain .270 versus a 165 grain .30-06 in battlefield situations. In everything I have read or heard of about battles, things rarely go according to plan or statistics....
