Re: OT--Question For You Boys In Texas, AZ, NM........

Here in the city, a suburb of Dallas, we have never seen a rattler in the yard. We have a bunch of little brown snakes with a cream yellow belly which are non-poisonous as far as I know. My wife saw a copperhead once at night when she was watering the foundation of the house. We have a clay type of ...

Re: If you could shoot any firearm...

A genuine WWII BAR in full auto would be great to shoot. TOW-2 missiles are a lot of fun, everyone should be allowed to punch a hole in a scrapped tank with one at 3,000 meters like I did. The M-60 pintle mount in a Slick was fun, but the Slick was slower and smoother than the UH-60 CrashHawk. (Slic...

What is that white stuff all over there? I truly don't miss shoveling that stuff just so I could get out of a house as I had to do when I was a teenager. When I was too young to pick up a shovelfull, my Dad and olderbrothers did it, but it became my turn all too soon.

I have a Rossi Puma in .480, and if you think that is not too good, then look up 86er shooting it on youtube as posted by RKRODLE as Fast86er. It is not as nicely done as a Marlin or a Henry, but it works as smoothly as either. I like it really well for what I use it for, a short action pistol calib...

Re: Why don't .35 cal rifle historically do very well in the US?

If all you are hunting for here in Texas is our little tiny deer with the outsized antlers, then you don't need anything much bigger than a .223. A .35 caliber would probably do too much damage to these little critters here. On the other hand, I do know one man I used to work with who uses a 7mm Mag...

Here in Texas, as I was taught when I renewed my CHL a few months ago, parking lots are not allowed to be gun free zones. CHL holders must leave their gun in the car in a school parking lot if they go inside the school. Students on the other hand are subject to searches of their vehicles. My employe...

Why carry any MGs as they would eat up the ammo too quickly, and back then they weren't in such common use as now. Spray and Pray is nowadays more common than trying to hit the target with the first shot.

I need to find the link and post it, but he also had glider pilot training in the Air Force from what I read. That, plus the fact that he went back twice to make sure noone was left behind is why I think his military training was so significant.
