Re: Honoring ancestors

My grandfather (Thomas Victor Price ; 1889 - 1966), whom I'm named after, fought with the 139th Field Artillery on the Western Front. He would never talk about the war, except he did say once that he lost friends as "shock troops".

Thanks for posting Mike, I've handled a Savage 219 rifle and they're a sweet addition to any 220.
I've been looking for a 20 ga (220) forever and I learned last year Savage made a small number in 28 gauge. Either of these would be a "grail gun".

410 prices have gone nuts in the last two years (actually they've always been disproportionately more $ than other gauges, like 20 ga, etc). I have what I believe is one of the best single shot 410's ever made ; a Savage Model 220 hammerless. Have searched for this shotgun in other gauges, but never...

True, the current cost for the new Marlins is a bit much for most of us, but once production catches up (supply : demand), my guess is the Marlin 336 will settle in at a more realistic retail cost. Where this average cost ends up, we'll see. If the "gotta have it now" crowd want to spend r...

. From what I've seen and handled at gun shops, I'd rather have a Marlin for the 357 - lighter weight especially the new little 16" ones - and 'save' the extra heft of the Henry for the 44 Mag or 45 Colt. My wife has a 327 Fed Henry and it's not as light or handy as my 357 Mag Marlin. Both wel...

TraderVic, I have had a .357 Henry Big Boy Steel for 5 or 6 years and it really is a classy rifle. It is a little bulky but that's my only complaint. The wood and the checkering are beautiful, the fit is excellent and it feeds both .38s and .357s just fine. Thanks Walt, it's encouraging to hear you...

Trappers ARE Handier. I come to this from the hand gun perspective. There are hunters here abouts who've made meat at 300 yards with a revolver.
