I'm looking at replacing my late Brittany with a Pudelpointer. The breed was developed in the 1880s in Germany and Czechoslovakia when hunters crossed the German Pudel (French poodle) with pointers. These dogs take most of the prizes in versatile gun dog competitions.

I don't care for these guys much myself either, and will not tolerate them where family and pets are likely to go. I appreciate their role in an ecosystem and all that, but think their highest and best use is for the skins to back a nice primitive self bow.\

I have heard nothing but great things about mountain lion meat. And yes, there was a case in Idaho a few years back about some hunting buddies who contracted trichinosis from lion jerky that was not exposed to enough heat. I get a little nervous when offered bear jerky for the same reason.

Hondo, this one dates to 1968. This was a complicated swap involving a Marlin 39A and a High Standard Citation in return for the Ruger, a very nice commercially made Snider and some store credit.

Well this certainly proved to be a lively topic. I started it because Oregon is the only state in the Union that forbids use of crossbows for big game under any circumstances. The ODFW is considering allowing them for disabled folks in 2014, and the archers are all up in arms ...

Harry, do you know if the success rate for archers vs. cross bow hunters is similar in Wyoming? My guess is it would be -- and that there is little extra advantage to be gained by choosing the heavy and awkward crossbow other than the novelty. Madman, I agree more skill and muscle power are required...

Taxonomically speaking there is no such thing as a toadstool; in folklore, it often refers simply to mushrooms that are not edible by humans. although deer and other critters may feast on them, as a deer can even metabolize strychnine.
