Ok, so these two were fired at 65 yards #1- Winchester 1892, 24" barrel in 357 mag. Handloaded 140 grain XTP at 2405 fps (avg) This round was hard to capture, it shredded through a 1/4" piece of leather covering a 1# bologna pack and then 6-gallon water jugs!!! It was laying on the ground ...

Re: Rossi .45 Colt 92 rifle... and hot loads
My Rossi in 357 mag has handled 357 mag loads are are above or equal too most 30-30 loads with no problems. The brass stretches a little but no sticky extraction, mildly flattened primers but no cratering. The 158s and 180s hit deer, rabbit, woodchucks and yotes like a bolt of lightening. They will ...

Re: Deer Hunting with Rossi 357 Magnum Factory loads ??
The problem I ran into with the federal 158s is that they are weak loaded. Whatever powder they used did not have enough "oomph" to keep the velocity increasing in a rifle barrel. I barely got a 250 fps increase in a 16" barrel and saw a decrease in a 20". My handloads will incre...

Re: Deer Hunting with Rossi 357 Magnum Factory loads ??
I have killed deer, black bear and a wide assortment of smaller.game with a 357 rifle. The BEST factory loading I have found is the Underwood 158 grain Nosler JSP. It leaves my 16" Winchester at an average of 1995 fps. It expanded to .70 caliber on my black bear. I have not used any other calib...
