Ugly gun questions...
When I picked this up last year, I thought it would keep me out of trouble for a while and make a good foul weather deer/pig gun. The barrel was cut down to 18 inches. The bore is dark but the rifling is still sharp enough that I'll probably keep the barrel and just replace the bent front sight. htt...

Now....there are NO 200 Gn bullets for the 33 wcf, so I welcome the 338 flex tip hornady makes...will have to try that one out next. Buffalo arms makes the hornady style 33wcf bullets now... http://www.buffaloarms.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=159659&TERM=338 Wasn't sure if you'd heard about them yet :)

Nice rifle! I had one from about the same time frame with a little Leoupold 2-7x33 on it. Lightweight and shot well. It got traded for something else that's no longer around either. I'm a slow learner. Hold onto it!

6pt-sika, I wish I did. I've got the one that's on my 1903, a spare base for the same, and the last version that fits the 1952 through the MCA. Thought it would fit WCF3030's new find, but I was wrong. WCF3030, that's an excellent deal you got. Everyone wants the carbine in 6.5x54 and you've already...

From what I've read, the early model Lyman fit short action Mannlicher models 1903, 1905, 1908, 1910, and also fit the Greek military M-S M1903/14 as well as the Rumanian M1893 and Dutch Mannlicher M1895 turnbolt rifles. The next version fit the model 1924 through 1950, and the last version fit the ...

Something you'll notice is that those 155 to 160gr round nose bullets feed a lot easier than the smaller spire points. At least that's what I learned with mine. I've got one imported through the old Von Lengerke & Antoine Chicago sporting goods store that love the 140gr hornady's but you really ...

Cindy would have a detrimental affect on my group size! Only rifle I have that will plug a dime for 10 shots would be an old Winchester model 54 in 257 roberts with a 20 inch medium heavy barrel. At 100 yards my 86 lightweight 33wcf is ok, but no tack driver. http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv341...

Sharp loading gate bevel on lightweight 1886
I'd forgotten how sharp the loading gate bevel was on my lightweight 33wcf. Wasn't careful and sliced my thumb yesterday at the range. I'd heard that the receivers modified for 50-110 were prone to this, but not on the 33. No such problem with my old model 71. http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv34...

Hi guys,
Does anyone happen to know what pads Turnbull uses for his 475 conversions? Ever since I had my shoulder put back together it's taking longer to recover from range visits. Thanks as always,
Terry
Oh, to keep it on topic, I'm putting together a short barreled 45-90.

Question on old 1886 receiver
I recently picked up an 1886 receiver with an after market 33wcf barrel on it. The action is tight and the folks at Cody say it was originally in 40-82 shipped in 1888, but the records don't mention anything special. I was thinking of asking Mike Hunter to put a new octagon 45-70 barrel on it, but I...

Anyone else working with'em yet? Started playing with the flex tips and IMR 4064 last week. Looks like in my '86 (nickel steel - circa 1908), between 41 and 42 grains will be the "comfort zone". Sharp recoil and sticky lever at 43 grains. OT: These were loaded with a 310 tool set from Rick...
