I have a Leupold Scout set-up on my 1895GS and a Burris SpeedDot I've had on my 629 and now the BFR. The dot is fairly big and I've not tried it on a rifle, but on the hand guns, it tightened up my groups by a factor of at least 3 or 4..... Very fast on target.

Not to be smart azzed, but that's up to you. The 336 is usually a 1 -2 MOA rifle....Learning to control it is another matter. Standing offhand, I'd prolly limit myself to about 100 yards. Supported is another matter and prolly limited to a known distance that I could draw a bead on the target.
