Mine wouldn't until I had it worked over. My Marlins are hit and miss. The 45Colt and the 41Mag I had would feed anything but my .44 will feed a standard swc but not the wide flat nose.

Sometimes they need a little tweaking.

700.00 seems like alot for a Marlin but that is a pretty scarce rifle. The 38-55 is a classic round and darned addictive. Once you start you just can't stop!

It'll smooth out the more you shoot it. Mine's well used and slicker than snot! Still have to make sure I hit that last little bump to get the cart. lifter up.
