Re: Remington Model 700 - Value
I have never sold a gun to buy another gun without regretting it later! That '06 will do everything you need it to do. Save your money and buy the gun you want but keep what you got.
I bought a 98 Mauser in .270 for $200 a few years back. It is my utility beater rifle and shoots straight.

That doesnt appear to be a mass produced Hawken which likely makes it a semi custom or custom rifle. IMO, You wont find another one that nice at that price provided it is accurate.

horsesoldier, really popular powders like Unique and 2400 are hard to find. However, less well-known equivalent powders are available from several sources. For instance, Hodgdon's Universal powder is not as well known as Unique but it is Hodgdon's equivalent to Unique. It's also known as Universal ...

I am on my last can of Unique, I have been watching over a year and havent seen any on the shelf in the stores. I do have W244 which is right next to Unique on the burn chart. I havent seen any data for stout .44 Special loads for it. I am assuming one could start a little lower than the max unique ...

Years ago I had a good local source for primers. I do have another source a bit further away that runs about $10-20 more than Natchez. I have been ...

My FIL has one. The greatest irritation that I see is the safety. As far as function and shooting, his is accurate and has never misfired. IMO, it would make a good trapline or cheap packing pistol that might save a little wear and tear on a nicer pistol that you dont want to get scratched up in a t...

I swear, Kansas has the worst gun seasons around. They start Muzzleloader the last week in SEPT where you are typically fighting nats and mesquitos. It only runs a week, then Bow season opens and runs through the end of the year. They do manage to squeeze 10 days of gun season the first week and a h...

The quality of most guns out on the market today is down overall in general. Most places no longer employ true gunsmiths, but rather focus on one task and they are not even required to master that. I had a m44 made in Hungry. It was 100% original and shot close to MOA at 100 yards 300 yards with iron sights was no problem. It was as a SOLID battle rifle if there ever was one. Pawnshop buy for $70 itd and sold it for $350.
