Re: Ruger Marlin
I was just reading that assembly line workers at Ruger start at $11.50 an hour and tool makers start around $18 an hour. Their machine operators are sitting at about 26% less than the national average for their job skills. IMO, that equates to dissatisfied workers that probably took the job to get b...

I use CAST SABOT but I do not cast them myself. I shoot .50 Thompson Center Hawken with the black plastic sabots and a LSWCHP that 250 grain .44 cal. It does hold a good pattern but I have only shot out to about 75 yards. Hoping to use during deer season this year. This rifle has never drawn blood t...

I ran across this several years back. With the direction that everything is going it might be a good reference. As far as the best survival weapon, it will be one you own and have the most ammo for. But we always need to have something available that might be OUTSIDE THE BOX type of affair. https://...

I have the Marlin 336 in 30-30 and the Marlin 1894 .44 mag with 20" barrels. My FIL has a Winchester Trapper with the 16" barrel. IMO, the shorter barrels tend to shoot higher, at least for me. I dont think 4" makes a gun anymore handy and honestly to me makes it feel awkward. I will ...

A .50 cal round ball only weights about 177 grains and average velocity for deer loads are about 1500 fps. I have put one through a deer on both sides before at about 75 yards. I am sure that Skeeter Load in the Marlin would handle a deer at least to 75 yards maybe 100 if it didn't have a lot of dr...

Well I hope to take my grandson hunting with me this year and I am looking to start him with a .410 with #000 buck as the distance will be short. I am assuming that I will need a wad with the .375 round balls to fill the gap on a .410 bore. My question is does it matter what type of wad I purchase?

My first association with cap and ball pistols was while doing reenactments as a cavalry soldier. Most of the time at least starting out we just put cream of wheat over the top of 15 -18 grains of FFFg and had good success. You cant beat those old carbon steel blades (1095). They sharpen up pretty quick on a butcher steel. You probably still have at least one old circular saw blade laying around. They make excellent blades that will sharpen right up.

I used to run a Cobra 29 LTD back when I was driving a truck. Without having special tuning, I could push between 5-10 miles depending on location. With CBs, the CB is only part of the factor, you need to have the CB tuned into the antennas that you are using. 2 antennas are better than one!
