Well I ordered a Weaver side mount base and ring set this morning, figure if I buy this gun it's cheaper to go that way than get a stock, front and rear sites to get it shooting. I still say more people like all of us should be hounding Ruger, Henry, Browning, and now S&W for the -20 cartridges! Then if more folks found the joys of 25-20 & 32-20 , heck even the -40s , more ammo and brass would be produced.

I only got 1 from an auction site, I was the only bid. I once watched an auction for a 2wt fly rod, a couple days and the high bid was still way low of the reserve, 150 bucks I think. I hit the buy now for I knew it was worth more than 150 and I wanted it. The only and only time I've used ' fleabay' .

My JRT was a cord chewer as a puppy so I unplugged everything and rigged a length of lamp cord to a 9volt battery and let the end dangle. Sure enough he got into it and got the least bit of ZAP. If the site is like the one on the Ruger 22s the slots are cut too deep and the heads break all the time. Maybe figure out size and pitch then look for an Allen cap screw?
I'd bet it's a #1 or maybe even a 0 .

The more I'm looking around, this rifle is a 53 frame with straight lever, like you say the 65s were curved levers.

It does date as a 92 in 1924. More research now on the 53...

I got my hands on this again today. The serial number dates to 1924 but I'm going to check it again. Top of the receiver has a stamp , BW or PW in an oval, the barrel also has the same stamp as well as an oval with CP - gotta look into those.
