So my kid texts me saying he has a line on some Winchesters in Alaska.
A pre 64 model 70 super grade in 270 with a Lyman Alaskan. 1600

A 71 deluxe for 2k.

An 1895 in 35wcf for 2200

I should have some pics in a while. Don't sound bad if they are straight and original. Kid is hot for the 71. :D

I figure old shot out 38-55s and 32-40s were what was mostly returned for this treatment during the depression.
I've actually seen several of these up here. Almost all are in 32 Special. I'm sure there was a surplus of those barrels.

Word on the street is that because of all the closures, if you drive down to the co-ops with some cash as the boats come in, there are some spanking deals. Poor guys need to unload the stuff. Word I got was 5 bucks a pound.

I find that in recent years as long as you use good quality components, most any thrown together AR will be a reliable and accurate rifle.
The AR15 has come farther in the last 15 years than in all the years before. Twenty years ago I laughed at them, now I trust them as much as anything.
