I'd go with a small gas saw as well. I don't have a lot of faith in the battery ones. With brands it's kind of a Chevy vs. Ford thing. There's really not a much difference between the same price level saws of Husqvarna, Stihl, and even Echo.

I wouldn't worry about a stain. I'd just use the blo you have on hand. With time and enough applications, it's will look about as close to original as you can get.

I've owned a few in the past and they were dependable but parts availability would be my biggest concern with a 1200. The 870 is my pick of pump guns, although there's been some talk about the newer Express guns have rust issues.

I had a rifle stolen by USPS once. It showed as last scanned in Pittsburgh, PA, but never out. The postal inspector agreed that it had been stolen by a USPS employee. A letter might get stuck to the back of another or torn up in a sorter, but not a scoped rifle!

As others have pointed out, yes it can cause rust. It can on the lever where some folks like to wrap it for the coolness factor.

We used to shoot arrows out of shotguns years ago. Just cut the end of a shotgun open and dump out the shot first, then slide the arrow down the barrel and you're ready to go. You could shoot an arrow out of sight. No practical use, but fun to play with.

I never cared for a bipod off the bench. I much prefer standard sandbags, but have used bipods the varmint fields a great deal. I'm sure the harmonics would be different shooting off a hard bench versus the ground.

I have a 44-40 and enjoy shooting it, but the 30-30 is much better deer hunting round in my opinion. Much flatter shooting.

They're beautiful guns, but I think they're a bit too complex on the insides. I've seen more than one that wouldn't function correctly after the owners stripped them down then had troubles getting everything back together correctly.

I found Winchester Dynapoints to shoot pretty good in a wide range of firearms. Once ammo I tell people to avoid is Remington Thunderbolts. They've been terrible in most anything we've ever tried them in.

I'm not impressed with the Henry rifles, but the 9422's and 39's are great fun guns. I always loved the looks and short lever throw on the BL22's though. I never owned one of the Rugers. I'm sure they're good guns, but they just don't have the classic lever gun look to me.

There's a number of them on the market and most work well. I have a Nikon Rifleman 1000, which is no longer made, but I've been happy with it. I just wanted something relatively small and that offered the ability to compensate for angles shooting up or down hill.

Not all stainless steel is the same. The amount of molybdenum can vary. You'll notice magnets stick some some stainless alloys but not others. All will rust, but some stainless just rusts easier than others.

To me nothing is better looking than a nice deep blue finish with nice wood, but stainless steel and synthetic stocks certainly makes sense on firearms intended for use in harsh conditions.
