- Topic: Q: Loading from magazine vs. single breech loading
- Replies: 12

Maybe it was on Marlin forum, but I also saw a thread recently where the group size was way smaller from a .45-70 or .444 when the rounds were singly loaded and fired, vs. a fully loaded magazine present. I'd expect little measurable difference whether the individual round was fed through a magazine...

I just came across the thread last week where someone had repeated case splits (ring splits or front separations) in their Puma .454 and the theory was .45 LC loads had pitted or crudded up the front of the chamber and were causing excess pressure somehow. 1) anyone know what ever happened with that...

How do you get flesh off a deer skull?
We didn't have the spare cash at the time to get my son's first buck professionally mounted, but a friend advised us to do a "Texas Mount" which he described as the skull and antlers on a plaque. My son was ok with that, so we asked how to do it. The answer was "just hang it out where...

Why not shoot a 44 mag. ? 44 Mag. would be approx. same length as 44-40. Mag. is a stronger case. If you look at the cartridge dimensions, the .44-40 is VERY close to the diameter of the .444 at the base, whereas the .44 Mag is significantly smaller diameter. I think the .44-40 would be supported w...

I have a B-Square on two long barrel Pumas (44 mag and 357 mag) and like them. Both I've used short, light scopes on, because the torque could be great with a long or heavy one. No problems with a 4x 20mm or a Barska 3-9 IR compact, though. Ejection hasn't been a problem with these particular guns -...

The revolver is an Uberti and it is 2/3rds the size of a full size SAA clone. I got this specifically with the idea that this would be a great transition from .22 rimfires to centerfires. A peep sight out on the barrel will be too far from your eye to work properly. Not trying to start an arguement - but I mounted a Williams WGRS peep in the forward pair of scope-mount holes on my Marlin 1894c - and it's works just fine. Maybe the peep hole is larger than most? Anyways, I used the f...

Consider buying a $30 red-dot scope to practice with first - zero magnification, which translates to UNLIMITED eye relief, and very insensitive to the parallax phenomenon.
