You can beat $70 a box at several places. That's really steep! Check a list of sellers here: http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q=38-40+ammo&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title I would shoot it, and see how it shoots before purchasing, or rebuil...

I loaded for 7-8 years using Lee dippers, and not only do they work well, they are extremely consistent. I wouldn't reccommend using them for max loadings, but if you find a load on the chart that is a good accurate midrange load, the Lee dippers will serve you as well as any powder measure ever mad...

I know we've been piling up to criticize rost495 for cartridge choice, but given the size of deer he's after, I just wanted to make a couple observations... 1) My son is using a 75 grain broadhead on a carbon fiber arrow at maybe 268 fps to kill big old Indiana deer potentially weighing over 200 lb...

If you shorten the barrel and tube, be sure to shorten the tube from the rceiver end. That way you can keep the factory holes and end looking original.

Re: OT [rant] Walnut makes good firewood
If you want it to be any good for gun stocks you need to get it cut into stock sized blanks. I've tried everything to save sections of tree trunks, and they will split when they dry naturally, if left whole. A small chinsaw mill is fine to cut it up, as you really don't care if it's perfectly smooth...

It's wrong because it makes a gun look terrible! Plus it can cause the ejector rod housing to break free of the barrel. That's a tiny little screw holding the end of the housing, and it takes very little pressure to snap it off.

What coyotes will see is patterns and movement. If you're wearing an orange vest it is a large solid shape, and when you move even slightly it will be seen. The color doesn't matter, so if you break it up with a pattern or wear camo orange, then they wont get your outline as easily.
